News Corp’s global diversity mission and pillars reinforce our commitment to reflecting and promoting diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) across our workforce, content, services, operations and partnerships, which enables us to better educate, enlighten and entertain more people worldwide.
Across our business, we are taking action to build more diverse candidate pools and pipelines and ensure fairness in our hiring processes. Our teams conduct regular compensation analysis to ensure our pay practices and philosophies are competitive in the market, and we offer a robust suite of employee benefits to address the needs of employees at every stage of life, including paid parental leave of up to 20 weeks in certain divisions.
While we do not measure DEI results solely in quantitative terms, we strive for gender diversity in leadership positions across the organization. As of 2022, three out of eight members of our Executive Leadership Team are women, 50% of the independent directors on the News Corp’s Board of Directors are female, and we have female representation of 48% globally at management levels. We also publish our EEO-1 survey data to further accountability and transparency in our DEI reporting.
We recognize the value of a diverse supply chain, and our efforts to ensure supplier diversity include actively tracking engagement with certified and classified diverse suppliers, incorporating diverse suppliers into our strategic sourcing activities, providing diverse suppliers equal opportunity in our sourcing and procurement process, and educating stakeholders on the importance of a diverse supplier base. As we work to centralize our procurement activities, we look forward to furthering a company-wide strategy for supplier diversity. News Corp expects its suppliers, when representing the company or our businesses, to adhere to the principles outlined in our Standards of Business Conduct. As set forth in our Modern Slavery Statement, News Corp has also taken steps to address the risks of modern slavery in our business, operations and supply chains.
Thanks to the success of these various programs across the business, News Corp was recognized as a Supplier Engagement Leader as part of the 2020 the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP). We also received a score of A- for our work in supplier climate change issues, management methods and progress in addressing climate change.
News Corp Giving, our corporate philanthropy program, strives to promote wider social and economic inclusion in the communities where we live and work. Employees play an active role in selecting our charity partnerships each year, which include longstanding relationships with Girls Who Code, Girls Write Now, Student Leadership Network and other organizations focused on educating and empowering young women and underserved students.
There has always been a profound social purpose to what we do every day at News Corp – from providing the news that informs the world and sharing stories that change lives, to helping people find the homes of their dreams – and we continually review and update our programs and processes to further cultivate diversity and broaden the opportunity for inclusion across our businesses and in society.
