Tonie Leatherberry, Board Director, American Family Insurance

Antoinette (Tonie) Leatherberry recently retired as a principal in the risk and financial advisory practice of Deloitte LLP. She is recognized for her expertise in advising large companies on information technology strategy, corporate governance, brand and reputational risk management, and strategic disruption and resilience.

Spanning a nearly 30-year career at Deloitte, Leatherberry became the managing principal of Deloitte’s northeast regional data analytics practice. She also served in roles advising global companies on information technology transformation and other operational issues as well as president of the Deloitte Foundation, the company’s non-profit arm.

Leatherberry has devoted herself to creating opportunities for women and people of color. She is a long-time director and current board chair of the Executive Leadership Council (ELC). Founded in 1986, ELC is a non-profit focused on opening channels of opportunity for the development of Black executives to positively impact business and our communities. As ELC chair, she created the Chairman’s Council of Academic Achievement to address achievement gaps for Black students in America’s educational systems.

Leatherberry earned an MBA in operations from Northeastern University, following her bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Boston University. She is currently pursuing a doctorate in higher education. She serves on the Boston University Board of Overseers and Widener University Board of Trustees.
