Kathie Herbst Okun, ChFC, CLU, LUTCF is President of Okun Financial Group, Inc. (OFG). The entire OFG Team practices the “Serve First, Last and Always” (SM-Stuart Smith)” philosophy.

Kathie is known for her work in retirement, business and investment planning. She is well versed in the 401K, 403B and retirement planning market. Kathie collaborates with presidents & owners, their executives & employees to satisfy the need for proper savings & to gain knowledge surrounding successful finance.

Kathie lives with a mantra of positivity and believes in the “Power of Gratitude.” Kathie’s life changed forever due to the death of her young father when she was just 14 months old. She and her brother were faced with many challenges to navigate. She believes this experience reinforces her ability to teach a client to plan and prepare for joys and setbacks, and for whatever life brings. She believes that wise savings, spending and investment decisions are paramount to a client’s future & happiness.

Kathie emphasizes the need for a well thought-out and executed investment and estate plan. All pieces of the plan, investment, financial, and business plan, must work together. Kathie and her team excel at coordinating these essential pieces and collaborating with other professionals necessary to their client’s success.

Kathie moved to MD to attend the University of Maryland, Baltimore County after growing up in Pennsylvania. She went on to study through The American College of Financial Services, earning the Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) and Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) designations, and the Life Underwriter’s Training Counsel Fellowship (LUTCF). Kathie strongly feels lifetime learning is key to any success in life. In 2012, she graduated from The Univ. Of Pennsylvania Wharton School’s Aresty Institute of Executive Education Retirement Income Planning Program. Kathie holds Series 7, 65, 63 licenses & a Life & Health License. Kathie also earned a certificate from Harvard Business School for Executive Education, Leading Business and Personal Transitions course in April of 2023, which was sponsored by her Women President’s Org (WPO).

Kathie volunteers on the Alzheimer’s Association of Maryland Memory Ball committee. Her committee helped raise over 1.4M in 2025! All to support research and community outreach for those affected by Alzheimer’s. Kathie also spends time on committees for the Associated Jewish Charities. Further, she enjoys giving back to smaller, local charities like Blink of an Eye, supporting SCI (Spinal Cord Injury) families, and the H.O.P.E. Foundation, supporting orphans, and less advantaged children living in the city of Baltimore. These organizations are all near and dear to Kathie’s heart!

Kathie is married, and she and Harvey are parents to a daughter who is now a graduate of the Doctor of Occupational Therapy program from the MGH Institute in Boston. Kathie lives in Pikesville, Maryland where she and her family enjoy urban amenities, nearby beaches and trails, and lots of culture and art. She and Harvey are HUGE Baseball fans.
