
Michael Montelongo
Council Member, Council on Global Competition and InnovationThe Honorable Michael Montelongo is a seasoned international board director and audit committee financial expert with an extensive record of leadership across the public, private, and nonprofit sectors. A frequent board governance speaker and former Senate-confirmed presidential senior official, he serves on the boards of Civeo Corporation (NYSE: CVEO), Merlin (NASDAQ: MRLN), Monarca Food Solutions, and the NACD, where he is a Board Leadership Fellow.
Montelongo is President and CEO of GRC Advisory Services, LLC, advising boards and senior executives on governance, risk, and compliance. He is an Executive Fellow at Harvard Business School, where he was previously on the faculty teaching service operations, and earlier held senior executive roles at Sodexo, Inc. A public policy and geostrategic expert, Montelongo is a Council on Foreign Relations lifetime member.
Previously, he served as the CFO and 19th Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Financial Management and Comptroller, managing a $120 billion budget during two wartime operations and later serving as Acting Secretary of the Air Force. His contributions to national security and space strategy extend to service on the NASA Advisory Council and the board of The Aerospace Corporation.
Montelongo began his career as a U.S. Army officer, completing a Congressional Fellowship and teaching at West Point. He earned a B.S. from West Point and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School. His civic engagement spans youth, veterans, and national service, and his recognitions include top civilian honors from the Air Force and NASA and the Latino Leaders Magazine Maestro Award for Lifetime Leadership.
